What is IgG?
IgG stands for immunoglobulin G and is a biomarker used to assess immune status and diagnose various immunological diseases. diagnosis of various immunological diseases. IgG levels are measured through a blood test and are used to assess a person's overall immune status. A low IgG level may indicate immunodeficiency or reduced immunity, while an elevated IgG level may indicate an active immune response, chronic inflammation or autoimmune disease.
The IgG level can also be used to diagnose specific diseases. For example, elevated IgG antibodies against certain pathogens are an indicator of a current or past infection, as in the case of a hepatitis B infection that has been passed through. In addition, specific IgG antibodies are used in diagnostic tests for diseases such as HIV, Lyme disease and various autoimmune diseases.
